Lithium-Ion Batteries

We currently face a massive problem in the waste and recycling industry caused by Lithium-Ion batteries, which at present we can only see it getting worse with the increasing use of electric scooters, e-bikes and disposable vapes. When tampered with, destroyed or in any way pierced or broken, a lithium-ion battery can explode, cause a fire, even electrocution. They pose a huge risk to people and places, which is why it is important they are not put in scrap loads.

Lithium-Ion batteries are a ticking time bomb in metal yards, they can spontaneously combust at any time, causing considerable damage, last year alone there was 600 reported fires caused by lithium-Ion batteries causing £474 million in damages.
